Job Summary
The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food quality and hygiene standards, and maintaining efficient workflow in the kitchen. The ideal candidate should possess strong culinary skills, leadership abilities, and the capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation activities.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
- Ensure consistency, taste, presentation, and portion control of all dishes.
- Maintain hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards in compliance with company policies.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering kitchen supplies and ingredients.
- Minimize food wastage and control kitchen costs effectively.
- Train and mentor kitchen team members to improve performance and efficiency.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food items.
- Support menu development and introduce innovative dishes when required.
- Handle kitchen operations efficiently in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a restaurant, café, or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Good communication and organizational abilities.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
