Adapting this template for your workplace

List actual assigned areas, cleaning equipment, work shifts and physical tasks; differentiate this from guest-room housekeeping. Confirm tasks, seniority, shift pattern and compensation with the hiring manager. Include qualifications only when genuinely necessary to perform the job.

Interview questions for a Public Area Attendant

  • 1. How do you protect guests while cleaning a wet lobby floor?
  • 2. What steps would you take after finding broken glass?
  • 3. How do you respond to an urgent washroom cleaning request?
  • 4. When should a maintenance issue be escalated?

Ask candidates to describe their own actions in relevant situations. Use consistent core questions and evidence-based scoring for the same opening.

Practical hiring test

Suggested 40–60-minute exercise: Perform a simulated lobby and washroom inspection, identify hazards and explain the correct sequence for an urgent spill response. Give each candidate an equivalent brief, reasonable time limit and objective scoring guide, without unpaid productive work.
